We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Software Engineering Manager.

Principal responsibilities:

Provide leadership in Traded Risk Scenario Service and provide Business and IT strategic agendas in a way of upholding HSBC values. This includes:

? Collaborate and drive the IT service and underlying PoD to deliver in value stream

? Participate the development of Traded Risk project and work effectively with the global team

? Managing staff based on objectives and behaviour standards

? Leading & inspiring the team to achieve and exceed their goals

? Developing and uplifting team overall capability aiming for end to end delivery responsibility

? Talent management and succession planning

? Ensuring quality processes are defined and adhered to

? Identification and assessment of risk

? Financial control and P&L management to meet targets

? Stakeholder management

? Managing third party vendors and vendor service providers

Financial:

? Manage team delivery to an agreed budget, conduct forecast, monitoring and reconciliation in line with business expectations

? Provide a full support to maintain PoD operation

? Work closely with Technical Product Manager to plan the growth of the PoD

? Identifying opportunities to reduce delivery costs and refine estimation

? Provide an accurate financial forecast for the PoD

Customer:

? Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships with various business and internal IT partners.

? Build trust and confidence with the stakeholders thru faster time to market and quality deliverables.

? Always be customer focused and proactively work with business stakeholders, engagement and other service providers as appropriate to deliver stable and cost effective solutions that meet business needs.

Process:

? Review and drive improvements in policies, practices and procedures on an ongoing basis with the view to creating an environment of continuous improvement.

? Accountable for ensuring team deliverables are met within schedule, with appropriate team resource plan, risks, issues and dependencies identified and managed.

People:

? Establish a high performance culture by communicating and motivating the team, underpinned by challenging targets and creating the environment for success.

? Performance Management against objectives and behaviour standards in the PoD

? Development and Career Planning focused on increasing peoples’ professionalism and competency.

? Resource management – includes recruitment activities and contract management to provide optimal delivery within budget.

? Ensures maximum utilization of staff leading to increased productivity and reduce time to market.

? Manage and eliminate any key person risks.

? Ensure all initiatives are adequately resourced at all times by proper planning, monitoring and forecasting and promptly reacting to situations as they arise.

? Develop greater strategic partnerships with vendors creating a culture of learning and innovation through a diverse, flexible and balanced skill pool.

Risk/compliance/behaviours:

? Ensure decisions are based on commercial acumen and risk.

? Align and comply with appropriate process, policies and procedures.

Requirements:

? Qualification in Information Technology

? Experience in Information Technology, typically focused on software application development and support

? Experience in managing and leading a medium to large size team in a technical environment.

? Proven experience in financial planning and management including budgeting for the team with different business units.

? Experience in a transformation program

? Vendor management experience and proven experience in managing outcomes.

? Demonstrated success in project/management methods and techniques

? Knowledge and experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle

? Knowledge and experience in Agile and DevOps development practices

? Experience and passion for people development and team structure design and maintenance

? Ability to manage multiple challenging stakeholders globally with conflicting priorities.

? A focus on the basic tenets of sound technical design and a desire to embed architecture rigour

? Excellent communication skill

? Fluent English speaker

Desired experience:

? Knowledge of Financial Risk management in banking or financial industry

? Knowledge specific to the Traded Risk domain.

? Knowledge of Market Data Management including T0 and timeseries, Scenario Generation

? Knowledge of HSBC policies, processes and procedures is an advantage

Essential technical skills/certs

Java/ Java GUI, XML/ XSLT, HTML/ Java Script

Databases (e.g. Oracle, MongoDB or Apache Hadoop & Hbase)

Application monitoring and test automation best practice and tools

Scrum master knowledge or certified, or PMP certified

Additional skills/certs (as advantage)
